Today FM's John Duggan has been travelling around Russia covering the various World Cup games.
As well as keeping up with the football itself, he's been learning a lot about the country and its culture off the pitch.
Although he initially had safety concerns, John has found the Russian people to be friendly, and says that Moscow is like any other global city.
He also says football has proved to be a global language that has brought people together.
Despite concerns about racism and hooliganism in Russian football, hosting the World Cup has been "the biggest tourism project in the country's history", and their organisation of the event has been far more efficient than many expected.
John checked in with The Last Word to share his experiences there so far.
