RTÉ this evening announced the sudden death of broadcaster Marian Finucane at the age of 69. She passed away at her home in Naas.

She was the presenter of The Marian Finucane Show on Saturday and Sunday and had worked at RTÉ since 1976, when she began as a continuity announcer.

She was also the first presenter of RTÉ's Liveline programme, now presented by Joe Duffy.

The Last Word was joined by Broadcaster Joe Duffy, Head of Journalism at TU Dublin, Kate Shanahan and Motoring Journalist Michael Sheridan, to remember the broadcasting legend.
