Lidl have had to apologise to customers after their stores across the country sold out of swimming pools within a couple of hours.

The pools, which hold 7,500 litres of water, went on sale at 8am yesterday morning but had all sold out by 10am.

It comes in spite of the nationwide hosepipe ban being introduced this morning, which indicates that people might be trying to fill their pools without their neighbours noticing.
