Madonna has been confirmed to appear at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.

The singer will perform two songs at the grand final in Tel Aviv on 18 May. One will apparently be a well-known hit, while the other will be a new song.

Her appearance will reportedly cost around $1 million.

Is Madonna demeaning her talent by taking part, particularly given that the event is mired in controversy with a number of leading artists calling for a boycott over the country's treatment of Palestinians?

John Caddell and Larissa Nolan gave their thoughts in our music slot.
