Taylor Swift hasn't been known for using her platform to highlight political issues.

However, in a recent Instagram post to her 112 million followers, the singer stated that she now feels it's important to voice her political views, due to several events in her life and in the world in the past two years.

She also announced her intention to vote for two Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections, and encouraged her fans to ensure they are registered to vote.

Will her endorsement of these particular candidates have any influence on her fans? Should we be looking to musicians when it comes to our politics, and should they use their platform for this kind of thing?
