Around 16 million people in northern Italy have been quarantined as the government imposed a lockdown to try and contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The lockdown came into effect in Lombardy and other regions in the north of the country after the number of confirmed coronavirus cases increased by 1,247 in just 24 hours.
We were joined by Christopher Livesay, a journalist in Rome, and Vinny Healy, an Irishman living in Lombardy, to discuss the current situation.
