The Oscars have often been criticised for their lack of diversity.

In an effort to combat this, the Academy has introduced new eligibility requirements for the best picture category.

Underrepresented groups including women, racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities need to be represented in at least two areas, on and off-screen, for a film to qualify as a nominee.
