Patricia Gibney is one of Ireland's most successful authors.

Her debut crime novel, The Missing Ones, has sold over 500,000 copies and is a bestseller in Australia and Canada.

Patricia's husband Aidan died of cancer nine years ago, within months of being diagnosed. She began writing as a way of coping with her loss and it led to her first book, which took "five years on and off" to complete.

She describes the theme of The Missing Ones as "grief and loss, secrets that have been buried for decades and how one person is prepared to kill to keep those secrets buried."

Patricia spoke to Matt about her journey to becoming a bestselling author.
