Many adults with disabilities rely on the State for the provision of important day services.
But although we have now entered Phase 3 of the Government Roadmap for reopening the country, a return date for these services has yet to be announced, leaving people with disabilities and their families in a difficult situation.
Laura Campion is from Co. Meath. Her 28-year-old sister, Deirdre, has Down syndrome and has not been able to attend her day services in Navan since March.
Laura has started a petition calling for a resumption of adult day services for people with intellectual disabilities. She spoke to us on The Last Word about her frustrations over the lack of clarity provided and her concerns for Deirdre's mental health and wellbeing.
