Following on from our interviews with presidential candidates Joan Freeman and Michael D Higgins, Peter Casey joined us on The Last Word to explain why he should be elected Ireland's next president.
Despite coming in at 1% in the opinion polls, Casey says he doesn't regret his decision to enter the race, and that is in it to win it.
He says he is not overly concerned with opinion polls and believes that, when people understand what he stands for and represents, he will have their support.
One of the issues he feels particularly strongly about is the provision of high speed internet to every home and business in Ireland, and he doesn't feel the presidency would limit his influence in this area: "You can't influence people if you don't have knowledge."
Casey acknowledges that he is outspoken, but says that he would know his limits if he were to be elected president.
"I think people are starting to realise that I speak my mind and I'm quite happy to say what I think."
"I understand the limitations of the presidency and I will not speak out against the policy of the government."
