Dublin-born author Sarah Maria Griffin's new book, Spare and Found Parts, is currently number one in Amazon's Dystopian Chart.

The novel certainly fits that category. It's a story "set in a Dublin that has long been destroyed" and where there are only a few survivors, all of whom are missing parts, as the book's title suggests.

Sarah's love of science fiction inspired the story. It follows on from her first book, Not Lost, a personal account of emigration. In 2012 she relocated to San Francisco, which she describes as "a wonderful adventure, but not all adventures have to be permanent."

She returned to Ireland as she missed her family and friends, and she believes that Ireland should have more to offer its citizens: "I don't think we should feel like we have to leave. We should have the option to stay here and grow and flourish."
