Should medicinal cannabis be widely available?
A new TG4 documentary, Cinneadh Cannabais, aims to shine a light on the benefits of CBD oil for people with various medical conditions.
Daire Ni Chanain is a 23-year-old student at NUI Galway who has been using CBD oil to treat depression and anxiety.
Daire found it was the only form of medication that worked for her, and she explains that there are no side effects, unlike with other parts of the cannabis plant: "There's no psychotic part of it and it's not addictive."
Noreen O'Neill is another advocate who has taken part in the documentary. Her two-year-old son needs medicinal cannabis to treat his seizures.
Noreen's son went through ten different drugs, none of which were successful.
After trying medicinal cannabis he was seizure-free for four months. He has since experienced a recurrence of seizures, but they have dramatically decreased.
Noreen says the evidence speaks for itself: "It can no longer be denied by the policy makers here. They can no longer claim ignorance to the benefits."
