Aretha Franklin is said to be gravely ill, according to a person who is close to her.
The singer's friend Evrod Cassimy has said that she is "surrounded by friends and family."
Franklin had cancelled a series of planned concerts earlier this year. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and her last public performance was in August 2017 in Philadelphia.
She was voted the best singer of all time by Rolling Stone magazine in 2013 and picked up 18 Grammy Awards throughout her career.
Her best-known songs include 'Respect', '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman', 'I Knew You Were Waiting For Me' and 'Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves.'
John Caddell and Larissa Nolan reflected on Aretha Franklin's music and legacy and discussed some of the week's other music news.
