A new study has placed Irish women among the top ten biggest drinkers worldwide.
The study, which was published in Lancet and carried out across 195 countries, found that Irish women consumed the seventh highest level of alcoholic drinks - on average 3.1 drinks per day.
Overall, Irish people's alcohol consumption was found to be comparable with other European countries.
The study also concluded that there is no safe level of alcohol intake.
Does this show that the idea of the drunken Irish man is a myth, and that women are actually bigger drinkers? Or is it just sensationalism?
Kate Brennan Harding and Ian Power discussed this and some of the other stories in the news this week.
