The Swedish government is considering introducing a digital currency.

The country's central bank is already running a pilot project with Accenture Plc to introduce an electronic krona based on the same blockchain technology that underpins digital currencies like Bitcoin.

Less than 10% of all payments in Sweden are made with cash, making it the most cashless society in the world.
