Leo Varadkar has been criticised for comments he made about the difficulty many first time buyers have getting on the housing ladder.
He was accused of normalising the idea of people emigrating, moving back home or borrowing from their parents.
Karl Deeter says people need to stop making home buyers feel ashamed for getting parental help, and that the Taoiseach "didn't normalise it - society normalised it."
"Parents can help their kids any way they want, and I think it's wonderful to see them showing their love in a way that demonstrably makes their children's lives better off. Is there a problem in housing? Yes there is, but you can't blame parents."
Sinead O'Carroll from thejournal.ie says there's no problem if parents are able to or want to help their children, but there is a problem with the Taoiseach normalising the situation.
"These are not things that he should be lauding. These are things he should be looking at and saying we have a problem if this is what women and men in their thirties are relying on to access the housing market."
