More than 18,000 people have now been evacuated from Kabul since the Taliban took over at the weekend, according to Reuters.

A NATO official told the news outlet thousands of people continue to flock to the airport looking to escape the country.

Freelance Journalist Lynne O’Donnell has spent many years living and working in Afghanistan. 

She managed to escape Kabul on the last commercial flight to depart the capital over the weekend.
