A top US cleric who once slammed Leo Varadkar for being gay has been arrested for sexual assault after being caught watching gay porn.
Father George Rutler was filmed watching porn by a church worker, who alleges that he forcibly groped her after realising she was there.
He has stepped down from his role as pastor of a church in Manhattan while the incident is being investigated.
Rutler made comments about Leo Varadkar's sexual orientation on the global Catholic network EWTN in 2019, and has also been critical of Ireland in both political and religious terms.
