Recordings have captured the cries of children detained by immigration authorities at the US border after being separated from their families.
Around 2,000 children have been taken from their parents as a result of Donald Trump's 'zero tolerance' policy concerning US border crossings.
Images have also emerged of children being held in cages, which has led to a major backlash from Democrats as well as some Republicans.
Trump defended his policy in a tweet this morning, claiming that illegal immigrants will "infest" America without strong laws.
Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told Americans not to believe the press as the children are "very well taken care of", while Ann Coulter has claimed the crying children are actors.
