American TV personality Dr. Phil has been subject to a backlash for comments he made on Fox News about the coronavirus.

In an interview with Laura Ingraham, he made comparisons between the threat of COVID-19 and the number of deaths from smoking, car accidents and swimming pool incidents, saying: "We don’t shut the country down for that, and yet we are doing it for this."
