This Friday marks Care Day 2018, a campaign to focus on positive experiences for those who have grown up through the care system.

Conor Ryan and Amy Glover have both been through the care system, and they joined us to explain more about how it works.

There are currently over 6,200 children in care in Ireland. As Conor explains, "To be in care, you're not living with your normal family. The three main types are relative care, residential care and foster care."

Amy adds that Care Day is about focusing on the positive rather than the negative.

"I think a lot of people will hear about the care system and usually that can be depressing, but it's long overdue to have a day that's really about the young people who are in care and their ambitions and dreams."
