The National Development Plan is due to be announced on Friday, but there has already been concern expressed about whether rural areas will be overlooked in favour of cities like Dublin.

The north-west in particular is a region that politicians have often been accused of neglecting. So will it benefit from some of the €115 billion available in the plan?
