A woman has settled a High Court action against the Luas operators for €550,000, after she was injured as a teenager while 'tram surfing'.
Rebecca Kelly, who was 13 years old at the time, suffered a brain injury when she fell from the outside of a moving Luas tram in 2010.
She acknowledged that the accident had been caused by her own reckless behaviour.
There were 54 recorded incidents of 'tram surfing' between 2005 and 2010. The practice has since been prevented by the introduction of safety measures which make it more difficult for people to grab onto the outside of trams.
