Last November on the programme we spoke to Georgie Crawford, entertainment reporter with Spin 1038, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32.

She had a nine-month-old baby daughter, who is now one, and was facing into 20 weeks of chemotherapy.

Six months on, Georgie joined us again to talk about how things have been going for her.

She says she was welcoming the start of her chemo, but it hit her "like a freight train." This was helped by anti-sickness medication, and as her hair hadn't yet fallen out and she didn't really look sick, she tried to stay positive.

She describes every day as a struggle: "It's just this crippling exhaustion. I'd open my eyes in the morning and think, how will I get through another day of this?"

Her loved ones were supportive and offered help, though she says that some days you just want to do everything yourself: "Some days I didn't want help, I just wanted to bring my own baby down to the shops myself."

Back in November, Georgie openly discussed her fears about losing her hair. She now says she was surprised at how quickly it fell out, but when she initially had her head shaved, her reaction was unexpected.

"It's really hard not to have hair, but I still felt like myself. I felt really empowered."

When she lost her hair completely, she admits it was difficult to look in the mirror and think about how ill she looked. "When I get my hair back I'll appreciate it so much, not because I'll be a 'pretty girl' but because I'll feel healthy."

Having cancer has been an eye-opening experience for Georgie in several ways.

"In so many ways I'm glad I got it because it's changed me and opened my eyes to so much good in the world. I appreciate every second of every day and I'm much more resilient."

Her journey is not quite over yet, as she is about to start radiotherapy in the next two weeks and will go onto a drug called Tamoxifen.

She remains passionate about helping others and raising awareness of how breast cancer can impact younger women.

"I don't think we're breast-aware. A lot of the awareness is aimed at over-50s. I want to help put this on people's radar."
