We all know and adore Kevin McGahern from his stint on RTÉ's Republic of Telly and the documentaries Kevin McGahern's Fast and Furious and Kevin McGahern's America (that's a lot of Kevin McGahern right there).

He's a great laugh but the poor fella has found himself in a bit of a pickle at the hands of fellow comedian Liam Nugent.

Speaking on Dermot and Dave, the Cavan man took the opportunity to enlighten the nation of his dispute with Mr Nugent.

"This guy is a punk" was his opening remark, as he continued to unveil some of his nemesis' dark secrets like, "he was let go as a mass server" and "he used to MC horse fights". Is nothing sacred?

What McGahern was really meant to be in to chat about was his new comedy tour called Solo Apollo, which kicks off in Central Arts, Waterford on Friday the 18th of January and runs nationwide until mid March.

His latest work is mix of traditional stand up, character-based comedy and lovely funny songs. He talks about his first year of marriage, dying with flatmates, avoiding getting shot in America, how to get away with drunk driving and how to survive a terrorist attack.

He’ll be supported on tour by Edwin Sammon (who you may know as Fr Gabriel in Bridget & Eamon) and has the height of praise for him.

Here's a list of all the dates and venues:

  • 18 Jan: Central Arts, Waterford
  • 19 Jan: Dolans, Limerick

He also had time at the very end to recite a special 'Dublin poem' he wrote in his spare time.

Be warned...it's powerful!
