Let's face it, people seem to be fairly shattered this weather.
"I'm wrecked" is possibly the most common phrase we hear on a daily basis, so in a world of smartphones, social media and a state of constantly being switched on, surely there's a way of switching off?
Well have you ever heard of Kandulini yoga? To be honest, we hadn't either until Maggie Creed enlightened us on Dermot and Dave's #MindYourselfNow.
Maggie Creed (aka Siri Akal Kaur) studied for over 10 years, receiving a PhD in environmental engineering, but after discovering Kundalini Yoga in 2011 when she was living in Paris, she found a new path of discovery.
The doctor (with the most soothing voice you'll ever hear) then began to study this discipline and through her personal practice has come to realise and experience some of the many benefits Kundalini Yoga has on the mind, the body and the spirit.
"We think our energy level is because we're exerting ourselves physically, but it's our brain".
Speaking on Dermot and Dave, Maggie explained how "it really takes in every aspect of yoga" and when it comes to the benefits, "the thing I see the most is that people find quiet".
Siri Akal Kaur also treated us to her 'scissors/excited lobster' exercise which only takes 11 minutes. And listeners were loving it.
Maggie wanted to create music which combines ancient Indian mantra with traditional Irish music, because both traditions have touched her soul deeply. Hence recording her debut album Solas.
The album is released on Sept 27th 2018. Siri Akal will play two concerts, in Cork on Friday 28th Sept and in Dublin on Saturday 29th. Tickets are available on www.siriakal.com. More information is also available on her facebook.com/siriakalmusic.
