Leanne Hynes works as a Clinical Nurse Manager in the Mental Health services, but over the weekend she strutted the catwalk at the London Plus Size Fashion Week.
On returning from her travels in Australia Leanne wanted to do something for her, so she pursued a career in modelling.
After winning Top Model Ireland in the 'curvy category' in January, she was given the opportunity to flaunt what God gave her on a bigger stage.
Although Leanne is honoured and excited about her recent achievement, she, like a lot of people out there, is baffled as to why we need to be labelled, especially with a phrase like 'plus-size'.
The ridiculousness of it all is laughable, as she discussed with Dermot and Dave on this morning's show. What's wrong with just being 'a model'? And who can really determine what 'normal' is?

The body positive movement in Ireland has taken a step in the right direction, but there's still a lot more to be done. It's like Leanne says, "the more voices we have, the more it will be heard".
Leanne is using her platform to highlight the misperceptions in the industry and help the youth of today to follow their dreams. Never let society put you in a box!
