Darragh Egan to become Wexford's new hurling manager

Wexford are set to appoint Darragh Egan as Davy Fitzgerald's successor as their new senior hurling manager.

Egan, a two-time All-Ireland winner with Tipperary as a player, had been a coach with Liam Sheedy's backroom team in the Premier County in recent seasons.

Wexford chairman Michael Martin says Egan is a 'sharp, enthusiastic and energetic leader' and confirmed he'll be put forward for ratification later this month.

"He is process driven and has a hunger for success" Martin added.

“He has experience of leading in a high-performance environment and I have no doubt that he will bring a wealth of knowledge to Wexford hurling as we aim to take the next step on the journey to success.

“Our strategic plan, “Ar Aghaidh Linn le Chéile”, is the most ambitious plan ever launched in the history of Wexford GAA with clear and specific goals for on and off the pitch

“We are conscious that the performance of our senior hurling team is a key element in the social wellbeing of our county."

The Models had been on the look out for a new boss since Davy Fitzgerald's five-year reign ended with a defeat to Clare in the All-Ireland qualifiers this summer.
