Jack McMillan and Jordan Sloan into Euro Short Course Swimming Finals

Irish pair Jack McMillan and Jordan Sloan are into their respective finals at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Glasgow.

McMillan qualified with a time of 1.43.18, which is an Irish senior record. Sloan made the decider with a swim of 1.43.61.

The final will take place this evening. Robbie Powell swam a personal best of 1.46.63, but it wasn't enough to qualify.

Shane Ryan won his heat in the 100m backstroke in a time of 50.45. He qualified second fastest among the entire field and is into the semi-finals.

It was an excellent swim from Ryan, who smashed the Irish senior record. On that display, he will be hopeful of making the frame to win a medal. Unfortunately, Paddy Johnson and Conor Ferguson didn't get to the last 16.

Danielle Hill won her 100m freestyle heat by clocking 55.18 seconds, but it wasn't enough for her to make the semi-finals. However, she did swim a personal best, as did Maria Godden in the same discipline.

Eoin Corby recorded an Irish junior record in the heats of the 200m breaststroke. He posted a time of 2.09.02.

There's already been Irish success at these Championships with Mona McSharry of Sligo claiming bronze in the 50m backstroke yesterday.
