Mixed news for City as Foden agrees new deal but Torres crocked

Manchester City's Phil Foden has agreed a new long-term deal with the club, but they'll be without Ferran Torres for six weeks.

As they face into one of their busiest periods of the year, City must factor without versatile forward Torres.

Originally signed as a winger from Valencia, the 21-year old has been converted into an effective centre-forward under Pep Guardiola.

He scored twice in City's 5-0 win over Arsenal earlier this season, and also netted a brace playing the same position for Spain in last week's UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

Torres limped out of that 2-1 win over Italy, but was passed fit to start in Sunday's final against France at the San Siro.

However, that injury sustained against the Azzurri has proved more serious than first feared, and will keep Torres sidelined for up to six weeks.

City have eleven games between now and the end of November, including a Manchester derby and Champions League group games with Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge.

In better news for Guardiola, Phil Foden's future has been settled.

The 21-year old is set to see his wages significantly increased with a lucrative new long-term contract.

A six-year deal worth a reported £150,000 (€177k) a week is close to being signed. Such a deal would see Foden paid a whopping €56million over the course of his contract.

He's become a staple of the City side under Guardiola, and was named last season's PFA Young Player of the Year.
