Two uncapped players named in England Six Nations squad

Wasps winger Paolo Odogwu and Bristol scrum-half Harry Randall have been given their first call-ups to the England squad for the upcoming Six Nations.

The uncapped duo have been included in a 28-man group for the championship, which starts at the beginning of next month.

Head coach Eddie Jones has also named a 'shadow squad' of twelve players who will be part of the same testing protocols as the tournament squad. Mako Vunipola will also join them to continue his rehabilitation from injury.

The smaller-than-usual main panel of 28 is to reduce the risk of infection.

Jones is currently isolating after assistant Matt Proudfoot tested positive for coronavirus.

England's campaign begins with the Calcutta Cup match with Scotland at Twickenham on February 6.

"This has been a really tough squad to pick," Jones said, "And I know there are a lot of disappointed players who haven’t been selected. We’re really excited by the players we have got, it’s a very vibrant squad and are looking forward to getting started next week.

“We’re very grateful to the Premiership Rugby, the clubs and RPA for allowing us to have 28 players throughout the tournament, we’re very happy with the number and it’s testament to the growing relationships between all parties.

“Ultimately our goal is to win the Six Nations and to do that we’ll need to work hard and prepare well each day and take it as it comes.”
