Have you ever tried to Badly Explain Your Job?

According to an article from The Poke website, although you may not have an interesting job, you can explain it in a fun way. All you need is a bit of imagination!

For example, someone who works in tech support could say ‘I tell people all day to turn off and back on their computer’, or a lecturer might say ‘I talk to myself in front of large numbers of young people busy on their smartphones’.

On The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show, Ian asked listeners to be as creative as possible when describing what they do.

Here are some of our favourite responses...

I spend a lot of my working day rectifying the very poor aim of young men! – Paula, Cleaner in a Boy’s School

I make tiny holes in people, then apply different shaped metals to the holes – Áine, Professional Body Piercer

I get paid to give people their own money – Aidan, Bank Teller

I spend the day asking people which is better 1 or 2 - Optometrist

I sit down the back and tell people I don’t have a phone charger – Darren, Sound Engineer

I have spent the last 29 years counting to 15 every hour on the hour – Cathy, Personal Trainer

I’m a 24-hour unofficial event manager, lawyer, psychologist, career planner, peacemaker, detective and someone who will ‘happily’ accept your daughter’s cousin’s mother in law’s resume – Human Resources

I work in Dispute Resolutions… - Paula, Mum of 2
