'Deeply disappointed' Education Minister's reaction to ASTI decision

The Education Minister says she's 'deeply' disappointed at the decision of the country's largest secondary teachers union to reject the latest Junior Cycle proposals.

ASTI members voted against the proposals by 55 percent to 45 percents.

Minister Jan O'Sullivan says she'll consult with parents, students and management bodies in the coming weeks.

Secondary teachers in the TUI have voted to accept the proposals by more than two to one, at 69 percent to 31.

But ASTI President Máire Ní Chiarba is denying teachers are split on the issue:
