Irish men and woman have grown significantly over the last 100 hundred years.
According to a new study, Dutch men and Latvian women are now the tallest people in the world.
Irish men now stand at an average of 5ft 10.5 and a half, while Irish women are around 5ft 5.5.
The global study found that Dutch men are an average of 6ft while Latvian women are 5ft 7.
Trinity PHD student in genetics, RUI Matiniano, says the main factor for the worldwide jump in height is down to nutrition, hygiene and healthcare, but that genetics also plays a big part.
'During the last one hundred years, our health standards and available resources in the western western world have greatly improved. But height can also be determined by genes between 50 and 80 percent of the time.'
