Halloween is here and all that procrastinating over the costume you had great intentions of making but never got around to can no longer go on. You need to get your act together today and we're here to help.

We were chatting about this on the Early Breakfast this morning; the costumes that take minimum effort but deliver maximum effect. We like to think of them as efficient costumes and the early risers this morning has some super suggestions. So if time is of the essence, take inspiration from one of these beauties.

Wear all white and draw on a stick man with electrical tape. Make a paper-plate mask and you're sorted.

A visit to Homebase or B&Q and pick yourself up a book of paint colour strips and rock up as 50 Shades Of Grey. Cheesey, but so is the book. Facepaint and grey hair optional. Alternatively, wear all grey and throw some rosary beads around your neck to become Christian Grey, that's what Phil in Offaly is going to do anyway.

A black and white stripey top, black cap or woolly hat and a strip of black paint across your eyes and you're an instant burglar. Grab a money bag for added effect. NOTE: Please refrain from robbing anything while in character.

Oh-so-cheesey but it works according to Simo in Kerry (and this guy). Wear a suit, make a sign. Formal apology sorted.

Be a bag of jelly babies. All you need is a recycling bag and balloons! Genius!

Another very effective costume. Grab a leggy friend, wear a black top and shorts and kick out that left leg. You're the dancing Emoji girls! #nailedit

Go for ultimate comfort and wear silky PJs and a red rob. Hugh Heffner how are ya!? Extra impact if you have a female friend (or friends) willing to don a bunny costume. Or if you're like Niall in Swords, he plans on just findong one when he goes out tonight!

Channel your inner Bridget Jones by wearing red fleecy pajamas and sing All By Myself at the top of your voice.

Red and green t-shirts, matching hits, stick on an M and an L and you're done. Mario and Luigi! Suggested by Lorraine and Michelle in Wexford.

One for the chancers out there. Stick on your suit and buy yourself a box of Milk Tray. Suggested by Jimmy in Navan.

Beads and headbands and roundy sunglasses and you're a happy hippy. Suggested by Alice.

We love this. Jeans and a red zip-up and a ridiculous hat will instantly make you look like Pharrell.

Whatever's easier to get your hands on; bandages, toilet paper or an old sheet, rip it up and just start wrapping. Instant costume. Cheers to Nick for this one (although he warns tissue paper won't last all night).

Do you own an orange shirt? If so, stick some white paper triangles on it and become a pumpkin like this dude.

Be a cat with a pair of ears and some black eyeliner on your nose and cheeks.

Very clever. A long black wig, waistcoat, white shirt and black skinny jeans are all you need to nail Russell Brand (not literally... although you never know). Genius suggestion from Dave in Cork.

Be a Geisha with a flowery robe or kimono and some chopsticks in your hair. Aoife O'Brien suggested this one.

Become a beauty queen with a tiara and a sash over a dress you already own. Don't forget your Miss World wave.

An eye-patch and a bandanna will turn you into a pirate.

Be a scarecrow with a straw hat and some crafty facepainting. Add to the effect with a check shirt and stuff it with some straw (from the brush of a witches broom perhaps?!).

Some careful styling with a bed sheet can turn you into the Roman god you know you are! Make yourself a crown of leaves if you have time. Laura and Shane in Clonmel are all over this one.

And we all know bed sheets are also good for the most traditional of Halloween costumes.

Or, if all else fails or you're just not sure you want to go all out... Error 404 should explain things.
