Who here remembers Captain Planet? Well if you recall he would muster the great forces of the earth to combat world threatening shenanigans on a weekly basis. Well I like to think of Today FM as the Captain Planet of radio...only without the clinging lycra...in most cases (imagines Paul Collins in lycra....nope!)

Anyway...my point is that the strength of Today FM comes from a glorious combination of various elements which, when combined, make us the Super Station we are. There’s the craic, the chat and then of course the music. Today FM is rightly renowned for having an excellent taste in tunes and part of this, is its dedication to bringing the listener the very best in live music recorded here in Today FM towers.

Under the guidance of INTERNATIONAL AWARD* winning Gavin Blake (caps at insistence of subject), the station has built up treasure trove of tuneful jewels over the years. From the likes of world bothering Hozier, the mighty Damien Dempsey, magnificent The National , lovely Lisa Hannigan and divine Villagers. We’ve had ‘em all!

This year not just Today FM, but the nation lost one of its most beloved and respected broadcasters with the passing of Tony Fenton. The Dude’s passion for playing what he would simply call ‘a great tune’ was the cause of legend and was instantly apparent to any of the acts he would invite in to perform live for his afternoon show. His joy and enthusiasm for live music was as real as it was infectious and whilst we and his listeners all truly miss him, he left us with so many great musical memories.

With this mighty man in mind, Today FM has announced the release of Whole Lotta Live, an incredible album compiled of 30 tracks recorded at the station over the years by Irish and International acts.

And you can download your copy now from HERE

The sessions, including recordings from the likes of Hozier, Bell X1, Ellie Goulding, Kodaline, Lisa Hannigan & many more, were collaborated on shows across Ian Dempsey, Anton Savage, Louise Duffy, Colm O’ Sullivan, Paul McLoone and of course the late Tony Fenton

As a tribute to Tony Fenton and others affected by cancer, the proceeds from the sales of this album will go to The Irish Cancer Society via Today FM’s Shave or Dye campaign.

The album will be available from 27th November on double CD and download and what better Christmas present for a loved one or even more importantly yourself (loved ones!...why do THEY get everything).

Again we remind you... you can order the album HERE

So far so awesome? WAIT til you see who’s on it!

Check…this…out!*
