The HSE is warning people to protect themselves against Lyme disease this summer.
Every year, between 50 and 100 people in Ireland develop the disease after suffering tick bites.
The health service says people involved in outdoor activities in the summer months are at particular risk - and should cover exposed skin and use insect repellents where possible.
Anyone who develops a rash or other symptoms is advised to visit a GP for guidance.
