Today FM has announced some big names to join its weekend schedule including Hector and Danny O’Reilly from The Coronas. The new schedule comes into effect on Saturday, 2nd July.

As well as Hector and The Coronas’ front man getting behind the mic, the refreshed line up will see Alison Curtis extend her hugely successful Saturday Breakfast to a Sunday morning slot while journalist and presenter Nadine O’Regan will host her award winning ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ on Sunday nights on Today FM.

The new schedule will also see popular festival and club scene DJ Kelly Anne Byrne present her discotastic ‘The Beat Goes On’ from 10pm on Sunday nights as well as Saturday nights. Ed Smith will bring his ‘Ed’s Songs of Praise’ indie music show to an earlier time of 7pm on Sundays completing an eclectic music line up.

From July, Danny O’Reilly will host an 8 week series entitled ‘A Different Side’ on Sunday afternoons from 4pm. The show will explore and celebrate the role of music in the lives of some of Ireland’s best known figures from the world of sport, cinema, television and radio.

Hector O’ Heochagain, who is currently covering for Ian Dempsey on Today FM, will join the weekend schedule in August with ‘Hector’s Sunday Sitting Room’ - a 3 hour show from 4-7pm. Hector promises to deliver a contemporary snapshot of Irish society encompassing all that is  great about our nation of a Sunday!

He commented: “I’ll be bringing the craic and keeping listeners company as they journey home on Sunday evenings, all to the backdrop of an eclectic upbeat soundtrack.  Just think of it as Hector’s Sunday Sitting Room and the key is in the door”– you’re all invited!”

Commenting on the refreshed schedule, Keith McCormack, CEO at Today FM said: “We’re excited to announce this new weekend line up and the opportunity to add new talent to the schedule. We’re confident that our refreshed offering can build on previous successes and bring in new audiences. The new shows will continue to deliver the great music you’ve come to expect from Today FM, and invite listeners to participate in Ireland’s weekend conversation”

JNLR ratings winner Phil Cawley will continue to host his afternoon shows on both Saturday and Sunday while Neil Delamere’s Sunday Best and The Sunday Business Show complete the stations weekend line up.

Sunday morning presenter Declan Meehan will retire from Today FM after 20 years of waking up his weekend audience while Jim O’Neill’s last show will be on Sunday, 26th June.
