There are calls for Coillte to convert 2,500 acres of forest in the Dublin mountains into a national park.
It comes after the forestry body decided to defer the felling of trees in Ticknock amid concerns it would impact on recreational users.
The forest was initially planted for commercial purposes but has become popular with walkers, mountain bikers and families.
