Many homeless children think it’s normal to eat on a bed or standing up according to a new report from Focus Ireland.

It showed families in emergency accommodation struggle to maintain healthy diets and often have to resort to take-aways.

Families spoke of having limited access to fridges, tables and cookers meaning they‘re often forced to eat foods like noodles, pasta, pizza and chips.

There are concerns that this is leading to health problems like obesity and diabetes.

Focus Ireland says well designed family hubs are better for families than hotels or hostels but that more social housing is the key to solving the crisis.
