A number of events are taking place all over the world to mark International Women's Day.

It comes after a significant year where sexual harassment and misogyny across a number of industries was highlighted, and movements like #TimesUp and #MeToo went viral.

Here at home, the President will mark the centenary of women’s right to vote in the UK and Ireland at Aras an Uachtarain. Groups celebrating and advocating on women’s full participation in political life will be attending the lunch.

There will also be a 'Vote For Repeal' march in Dublin city centre this evening going from The Garden of Remembrance at 5.30pm.

Elsewhere, Aer Lingus is marking International Women's Day by offering priority boarding to all women departing on UK and European flights from Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Knock and Belfast.

A flight departing from Dublin to New York later today will be managed by an all-female crew.

A number of international airlines are also getting involved in the initiative, urging more women and girls to consider a career in aviation.

Internationally, McDonald's is flipping it's golden arches upside down to make a 'W', because we all know, women love McDonald's!
