Independent supermarket JC’s in Swords featured on the show this week when we spoke to them about their now traditional Easter Egg sale... at Christmas! Over the course of the chat with Barry Savage of JC’s, he paid tribute to Blind Boy Boat Club of the Rubberbandits who proudly wears a plastic JC’s shopping bag on his face. Like Mr Chrome supporting a The Chicken Hut in Limerick, the ‘Bandits like to keep things local and independent. Of course, we had to speak to Blind Boy about these incredible costume spoilers, and also to catch up with him about the remarkable things that have happened to him since we last spoke to him about The Rubberbandits ITV2 show ‘The Almost Impossible Game Show’. And if you thought he was having a good year in 2015, wait ‘til you hear what he has in store for 2016!

‘The Almost Impossible Game Show’ was such a hit that it has been re-commissioned for a new series (starting in January). Blind Boy was pleased to thank Anton for helping the show out. Blindboy invented the Sarsfield Gannet after Anton raised the point that Limerick had no native deserts.

Blindboy said that the Sarsfields Gannet, a salted Kit Kat floating in cider, a delicacy dedicated to a water bird taken to war by Patrick Sarsfield, the famous Limerick historical figure.

Next year Rubberbandits are to appear in a new Alan Partridge series.

Away from stage and screen, Blindboy has just got Masters from the Limerick Institute of Technology in Social Practice and the Creative Environment, the details of which he revealed to Anton, as well as plans for even further education.

President of LIT, Dr. Maria Hinfelaar, awarding Blindboy Boatclub with his MA in Social Practice and the Creative Environment.

We also spoke about birds, dinosaurs using stones as digestive aids and why Christmas with the Rubberbandits will probably involve them staying in a shed as they embrace the bleakness of the season.
