Now that James Blunt is back on our radar with some new music, he has finally apologised for inflicting his Grammy-nominated best-selling single You're Beautiful unto the world, admitting the song is "annoying".

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, the singer-songwriter said that his '05 hit had been pushed far too hard.

"There was one song that was force-fed down people's throats – You're Beautiful – and it became annoying, and then people start to associate the artist with the same word." He continued, "I think, at the end of the day, I was marketed by a record company to appeal to women during Desperate Housewives commercials and you lose 50 per cent of the population in doing so."

While the song didn't win the Grammy, it did claim the top spot on NME's "The Very Worst UK Number One Single of All Time" poll, and has featured regularly in many more 'worst' and 'most-annoying' lists.

Blunt also told the magazine that he's really a very easy going and fun, despite the gloomy songs he's released and the whole stripping off before jumping off a cliff thing in  the video for You're Beautiful.

"The marketing also painted me out as an insanely serious person, an earnest person and, as all my friends know, I'm anything but," he said. "I have a couple of over-emotional miserable songs that I'm known for, but I think it's turned that corner now. People can see I don't take myself that seriously."

In case you either can't remember how annoying the song is, or you actually really like it and don't find it annoying at all, here it is in all its glory.

And here's his not half as annoying and actually really catchy new song, 'When I Find Love Again':
