The BBC has announced plans for a new initiative in primary schools in the UK. Ten Pieces will run over the next school year and hopes to inspire children in primary schools to learn more about classical music.
It will focus on 10 classical pieces, from Beethoven to Holst – check them out here:
John Adams - Short Ride in a Fast Machine:
Beethoven - Symphony No. 5 (1st movement):
Britten - Storm Interlude from Peter Grimes:
Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King from Peer Gynt:
Handel - Zadok the Priest:
Holst - Mars from The Planets:
Mozart - Horn Concerto No. 4 (3rd movement):
Mussorgsky - A Night on the Bare Mountain:
Stravinsky - The Firebird suite (1911) (Finale):
And the 10th piece is Anna Meredith's Connect It.
It got the Breakfast Show asking:
What is the one piece of classical music that should be played for Irish kids to show them how good classical music can be? #iand
