Tame Impala are from Perth in Australia, their latest album, Currents, has had a huge debut, taking the No.1 spot on the Australian Albums Chart. It’s the first time the Perth psych-rock outfit has made it to top spot, with previous releases Lonerism and Innerspeaker both peaking at No.4. Last week it debuted at No.3 on the UK Albums Chart and No.7 on the Irish charts. Fresh from trips to the US for Coachella and the UK for Glastonbury, the band played the main stage at the huge Australian festival Splendour in the Grass at the weekend. They were also joined by Mark Ronson for a guest appearance during his Perth show last week. They play Electric Picnic in September.
