Today’s Daily Download comes from Dublin singer/songwriter Paddy Hanna – he was a member of such bands as Grand Pocket Orchestra and Ginnels, and Paddy is known for being part of the Popical Island collective/record label. Some of his previous music has been described as “best listened to in a wood-panelled room with massive earphones and a neat scotch” – and that’s from Paddy himself... sounds alright to me. Paddy is a DIY kind of musician, he has said in the past that a recording studio is an alien place to him, he said “I don’t know where I’ll put my hands when I’m in a studio. I’m afraid I’ll knock something over”. Judging from this track, he’s definitely got the hang of things because this is a beautiful track - he’s been compared to the likes of Richard Hawley – you judge for yourself, here he is: Paddy Hanna, with “Underprotected”, Tuesday’s Daily Download.
