Today’s Daily Download comes from LA rockers The Airborne Toxic Event – it’s taken from their fourth album “Dope Machines”. Lead singer of the band Mikel Jollett says “I grew up in California, my parents were hippies, and I was born in the back of a VW bus on the beach. I was around everybody from Beatniks to gang members to kids who just emigrated from Guatemala or Ethiopia.” This song was written with Four Non Blondes frontwoman, and acclaimed music producer and songwriter Linda Perry. Speaking about the song writing process, Mikel said “Linda mostly wrote the melodies (though I had some ideas). I mostly wrote the words (though she had some ideas) and we both walked away feeling like we had captured something about the state where we live.” This is The Airborne Toxic Event with “California” and it’s Tuesday’s Daily Download.
