Today’s Daily Download comes from a band that have been threatening a return since late last year – it’s called “Gunga Din” and it’s from the Libertines. The Libertines formed in 1997 and gained notoriety at the start of the millennium, they released two successful albums but were overrun with controversy, due to Pete Doherty’s substance abuse and conflict between him and band member Carl Barat. Pete went on to form Babyshambles and Carl formed Dirty Pretty Things, and that was that. Cut to 2010 and the band reformed to play a few gigs in the UK – they obviously resolved their differences, because they are set to release Anthems for Doomed Youth in September. The Libertines also play the 3Arena on 9th July so that’s sure to be a great gig. This song is taken from their upcoming album, it’s called “Gunga Din”, from The Libertines and it’s Friday’s Daily Download.
