Today’s Daily Download has been touted as the new, male version of Lorde – 19 year old Thomston hails from New Zealand and resides in London... a lot of similarities there so far, and I for one can tell you that his music is incredible. Today I’ve picked a track called Anaesthetic, and it’s beautiful. Thomas Stoneman is the man behind the moniker, not only is he a successful musician at the ripe old age of 19 (he’s a classically trainer pianist) but he’s also a talented producer. Some guys have all the luck don’t they! He only started writing songs two years ago, and won a school songwriting competition which gave him the validation he needed because he says “I didn’t really take myself very seriously”. His music has been described as “brooding, minimalist pop”. But whatever you want to call it, it’s great. This is Thomston with “Anaesthetic” and it’s Wednesday’s Daily Download.
