To paraphrase a famous Monty Python line:

“What have the stars ever done for us?”

We buy their singles, albums, T-Shirts, books, gig tickets. If you’re a KISS fan you’ve probably bought one of their coffins. But, what have they done for us!?

Pearl Jam were playing recently in Stockholm and Eddie Vedder noticed a girl in the crowd holding up a sign asking for the singer to “sign my shoe.” Vedder made reference to the sign during the show and then stated, “You picked the wrong guy.” The fan tossed her shoes onstage. He signed one and had security give it to the girl with a bottle of wine that she proceeded to drink as the crowd cheered her on.

Vedder then told her, “I’m gonna do you one better. I trust you.” He filled her Converse sneaker with wine from a fresh bottle and drank it out of the shoe before tossing it back to her to the cheers of the crowd.

Well done Eddie Vedder giving something back! Chateau De Foot?

Here's a few more examples of Musicians giving back to fans:

Beyoncé once casually dropped by a Harlem cafeteria and joined the whole staff in a flash mob style dance routine!

She might be better known now for her bendy tongue and fondness for riding inflatables but Miley Cyrus is the Make-A-Wish foundation’s most-requested female wish granter and received the first-ever World Wish Day Star Award. She has granted 150 wishes so far!

The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue last year penned a special thank you song dedicated to his “TheScriptFamily” fanbase who helped get him to over a million followers on Twitter.

Bruce Springsteen once gave a private concert to a fan. Five-year-old Carter Bernhard suffers from Spina Bifida and his one dream was to meet “The Boss.” Carter had a VIP dinner and then a meet and greet backstage with private gig and then Bruce also gave Carter an autographed guitar! He is probably the king when giving back to fans.

He regularly brings young fans on stage to sing with him! Last year at the gig in Thomond Park Bruce brought a young fan from Offaly called Ross Plunkett on stage to sing Waitin' on a Sunny Day for his 12th birthday.

The Darkness once signed a stuffed pet for a fan whose dog apparently loved the band. The fan requested that lead singer Justin sign the dogs nether regions.

Now that’s giving back!!
